Devan Moylan, a 2003 Panorama graduate, was one of four Hawkeyes recently recognized for the Brett Greenwood Award.

All four athletes were walk-ons.

Moylan’s trophy reads reads: “The Brett Greenwood award is awarded to a walk on student athlete who embodies the core values and behaviors of former Hawkeye Brett Greenwood through their persistence, determination, commitment, preparation and actions. The student athlete has made a significant contribution to the team.”

Devan attended Iowa Central for the 2003 fall semester and transfered to Iowa in Jan. 2004 to walk on for the Hawks. His first 2 seasons he played special teams, and earned a start at safety 2006 against Iowa State.

Devan was granted a medical redshirt after his 2006 senior season for the season ending torn hamstring. Coming back for the 2007 season he tore the groin muscle in the other leg and suffered a concussion in the Wisconsin game,( the fourth game)ending his season again and career. His job then was to help Tyler Sash and Brett Greenwood learn the defensive. He was actually granted an other medical redshirt but decided to hang it up. Coach Ferentz offered to keep him on scholarship and made him a student coach for the 2009 season. He was awarded a scholarship his senior year.
