The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new local business, the Rustic Goddess Boutique, June 13.

Rustic Goddess Boutique is an all-inclusive boutique that sells fashionable and affordable clothing, sizes small through 3XL.

“The idea for this boutique stemmed from my love for retail when I started working at Buckle in college,” Owner Shay Derry said. “I loved being able to fit a lot of different body types and transforming the way someone felt about themselves just with simply picking something out that made them feel good. Plans for Rustic Goddess Boutique have been in the works for two years now. After having my son, I wanted to be able to go somewhere and find clothes that would fit my new body, and I just couldn’t find any boutique that I liked the clothing and I could fit into the styles.”

The new brick-and-mortor store is located at 300 State St. in Guthrie Center and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Since opening the boutique June 1, Derry said she has been thrilled with all of the positive community support.

“I could not be happier with the response from the community and also the other business owners in town,” she said. “New businesses also drives traffic to all the other great shopping in town.”

Kristen Crouthamel, the Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce president, said ribbon cuttings are a common celebration the chamber holds to welcome all new businesses to the city.

“This was our first ribbon cutting of 2019, and we have several more planned for this summer already,” she said. “We are fortunate for all the new entrepreneurs opening up shop in Guthrie Center, and we all wish (Derry) the best of luck.”
