Arliss Mae Stofer Buttler was born November 20, 1932 and died September 12, 2018 at the Guthrie County Hospital. She was 85 years old.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth “June” Buttler, son Rick (Martha) Buttler of Guthrie Center, and daughter Lela (Dean) Ford of Knoxville, Tennessee. Also surviving Arliss are her five Grandchildren; Chris Buttler, Kimberly Buttler, Stacy Peterson, Patricia Kyle, and Michael Ford who will deeply miss their Grandma. Arliss had 5 great grandchildren, Kennedy and Kylie Young, Cain Squires, Kye Buttler and Boden Peterson.
Preceding her in death were her parents and 8 siblings.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Guthrie Center. Burial of cremated remains will immediately follow memorial services at Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center.
Arliss was born to Mary and Claude Stofer in Greenbrier Township, Greene County, Iowa. She was one of 9 children. Arliss lived in Cooper Iowa when she was growing up and graduated from Cooper High School in the class of 1950.
During those years she enjoyed playing basketball.
On June 12, 1956 Arliss married Kenneth Hugh Buttler in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union 4 children were born; Rick, Lela, and infant twins who died a birth.
Arliss was a member of the First Christian Church of Guthrie Center, Iowa. She was a very devoted wife and her family meant the world to her. Arliss would drop everything she had going on to help out her family members at anytime they needed it.
