Yet another Panorama athlete is ready to make an impact at the collegiate level.

Briar Cliff University head softball coach Erin Bly has announced the signing of Panorama catcher Kennedy Andersen.

“Kennedy is the type of athlete you know will contribute great things both on and off the field,” Bly said. “Kennedy not only has the ability to bring a lot of power and presence to our lineup, but she also is a player you know will be a leader on the field given the passion and determination she constantly brings to the game.”

Andersen is a senior at Panorama High School and a four-year member of the varsity softball team. She has earned leadership and MVP awards and been named to the West Central all-conference team.

“As soon as I got my first glimpse of Briar Cliff, I knew there was something special about it,” said Andersen. “The fact that the university is on a cliff just proves the high standards they wish for their students and athletes to achieve. I got the same feeling right off the bat during my first conversation with Coach Bly. I am excited to strive for these high standards on and off the field.”

Andersen batted .394 last summer with three home runs and 22 RBI. She also produced a 92 percent fielding percentage while throwing out six base runners.

Kennedy’s mom, Lynnea Andersen, also has a special relationship with the school as she was a member the Briar Cliff softball program and obtained her graduate degree with BC.

“It is really special to be part of Kennedy and Lynnea’s journey,” coach Bly said. “Lynnea played and contributed to a special era for BCU softball and we couldn’t be more excited to have her daughter propel this team.”

Lynnea says she is excited for her daughter to be attending her alma mater.

“I was very excited when Kennedy called me to tell me that Coach Bly had reached out to her regarding playing softball at BCU,” Lynnea said. “I have always known it would be a perfect fit for her before she did. Watching her on the field at BCU during a practice was surreal. It means the world to me that she is playing at my alma mater, and I know first hand that the experience that she will get at BCU will be top notch and will prepare her for her future on and off the field.”

Along with her mom Lynnea, Kennedy’s family includes her dad, Shane, her younger brother Cooper, and her little sidekick Adelyn.
